Coffee in the Library

I have three comment sheets on my desk suggesting we put a coffee cart somewhere in the Library. I could not agree more! I love my cappuccino and always want a cup when I am reading. We are still working on a way to get a coffee bar here. It is an expensive investment and the people who provide these services want to make sure that a coffee bar will be a wise investment. Currently there is a survey about food service on campus. One of the sections has to do with coffee consumption and looks at best places for coffee service. My hope is that the survey will show that there is a market for a coffee bar near the main entrance to the library.

Keep drinking those lattés!

The Cold Library

We received three comments this Winter about the heat or lack there of in the library. We have had some obvious challenges this year with heat. This has been an extraordinarily cold winter that has put an added strain on our ability to regulate the heat. There have also been some maintenance projects which have caused cold air to temporarily invade the building. Hopefully natural and human influenced climate challenges are now in the past and the library will be more hospitable.

Watch for New Signs

A recent comment remarked that some of our signs are misleading. One mentioned, in particular, is the sign that says "Book Return" that is over the slot in the circulation desk. All sorts of material gets returned there, books, cds, dvds, videos and more. The sign was confusing to people who assumed that only books could be put in the slot. What were they to do with all the other things they had to return? Well we are changing the sign there and some others around the library that are misleading because they no longer reflect changes in the Library.

Clock back in the Grand Corridor

The other day I received a comment that said the clock was gone from the wall near the Garfield Avenue entrance to the Library. This student really missed that clock. No one in the Library realized it was missing. So we need people to let us know when things aren't right.

The clock is back! Now there are no excuses for being late to class!
